magazine, and most of the contents
is well written !bv Mr. Chanmun. On
the front page he upholds the Oregon
system of government, and in inside
pages he tells the story of economy
and a lot of other things.

This leads to a theory which District
Attorney Ivanhoe is inclined to give
the most credence to, thnt the woman
heard the noise and provided herself
with a revolver which lay on the bu
reau, but which was "knocked down
and had to be assembled; furthermore,
the husband avers that it was not
loaded, ordinarily. It follows, as feas
ible, that Mrs. Moon rigged up the
revolver, which, by the way, was not
shot off and still works poorly, and
went out to meet the intruder. It
might easily' be inferred that they
met in the dining room and that after
circling the table, one protecting her
self and the other attacking, she bolt
ed for the back door, but was over

above the porch. To learn which of
these theories if any is true, or just
what the facts are. will perhaps never
be known unless Mrs. Moon can her
self relate them later.
The theory that a tramp who was
seeiv in that neighborhood, did the
work, is exploited by police records.
The tramp identified as the one who
was seen in that vicinity Inst night,
was arrested as a vagrant, last even
ing. He was very anxious to avoid
arrest and gave the policemen a long
chase. He is still in jail.
A tramp appeared at the J. H. Keen
ey home this morning asking for a
coat, but there was nothing unustial
about his appearance.
