are selecting for their joint revival
of "A Celebrated Case." Otis Skinner
and Nat Goodwin will also join the
Frohman-Belasco company.. Miss
Murdock, who will play "Adrionne" in
the revival, will present her play here
in August.
Another revival planned early next
month is that of "Trilby" by Joseph
Brooks nt the Shubert theatre. Kose
Cofchlnn will play "Mine. Vintird.,"
"I Didn't Wont to Do It" is the
catchy song supirestcd title of a new
fnrce comedy Chnrlcs 'Frohman is
launching.
William B. Maxwell's tiile, "The
Ragged Messenger" has been selected
by Walker Whiteside for his vehicle
next season,
Bluebird" has returned to '" rejuven
ated favor.
"Twin Beds" at the Fulton theatre
has celebrated its 250th performance,
with the usuul souvenir momentoes.

Mt. Fannie Grange met ; Saturday,
April 3rd at two o'clock in the after
noon. The business meeting was
short but with some Easter readings
and recitations and a Grange songe
the afternoon was well spent. The
cheese ordered by the Grange from
"The Alfalfa Cheddaar Ceese com
pany," of Nyssa, Oregon, was re
ceived and divided among the mem
bers. Word was received here that Mrs.
P. A. Lillie, a resident of Cove until
about a year ago died at her home in
Southern Oregon last Sunday. Her
death was due to apoplexy.
Mrs. Herbert Van Gordon and chil
dren are visiting with Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Miller of the Sandridge this
week. . .
Earl Robinson is suffering w'ith
bad case of mumps.
Ben Miller has been visiting hi
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B,
Conley of La Grande.
M. L. Carter and family visited the
Experimental Farm at Union last
Friday.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Gasser
of Lower Cove, an 8-pound daughter,
March 30th.
The house belonging to Dr. S. L,
Corpe, but occupied by Orb White and
family was burned to the ground last
Monday night. It is not known how
the fire started but as the family
were at supper the house seemed to
get full of smoke and upon mvestiga
tion the upper story was found to be
in flames. Everything downstairs
was saved but their clothing and
bedding were upstairs, so were lost
Mr. White and family are now at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bell.
T. B. Johnson shipped a car of
fat hogs from here Friday.
John J. Marston gave' a historical
lecture "From Jerusalem to Jericho"
at the Maccabee hall, March 31. This
was a fine lecture and the attendance
was large. ' "
"Emerselda," a. four-act comedy
drama was given Friday, April 2nd
by the class of 1915 of Union high
school at the Cove opera house. The
Union Concert Orchestra furnished
the music.
The senior class of Cove high
school entertained the junior class
with an April Fool party at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Chadwick Sat
urday night. Supper was served and
all spent an enjoyable evening.- v
Miss Besse Lantz has moved her
piano into the library building and is
ready for work today.
Mr. and Mrs. N. Daron made a busi
ness trip to La Grande Saturday.',.
A dance was given in the Macca
bee hall Saturday night for the bene
fit of the baseball team.
The Sunday School of the M. E.
church gave a fine Easter program.
Rtv. Winters held services also.
The farmers are all enjoying the
rains of the past week. Rain was
needed badly but came in time to
make the crops grow.
