Expects to Move to La Grande Within
a Few Days.
J. C. Christiansen, well known
former chief of police of Elgin has
traded ibis residence property in this
city to L. A, Stoop for residence prop
erty in La Grande and will move to
that city in a few days.
The residence secured by Mr. Chris
tiansen in La Grande is modern and is
situated on W avenue and North Fir
St. He and his family are now en
gaged in packing their household ef
fects and expect to be ready to move
by the later part of this week or the
fore part of next. .They will ship their
goods to La Grande and then go to
Portland, where they will visit a few
weeks with their son, William.
Mr. Stoop and fnmily will move
into the Christiansen residence as soon
as it is vacated.
Mr. and Mrs. Christiansen have, a
host of friends in Elgin who regret
their decision to move from here. Mr,
Christiansen is well known over this
section of the state through his work
as peace officer of Elgin, in which
capacity he has served the greater
portion of 13 'years, and when not
filling that position he was serving
either as constable or special deputy
sheriff. ; His record for persistency in
enforcing the laws has been good and
ho has served Elgin well; not only as
as officer but as a citizen, '
