Hang Over Senate Session Possible.
There are rumors floating . about
this afternoon that the Senate may
meet after adjournment in March to
take action on the Trade Commission
appointments. The calendar is so
congested on the north wing of the
Capitol that it will be all the Senate
can do to finish up with the appropria
tion bills and decently bury the Ship
Purchase bill, or revivify as the case
may be, by March 4th. There is a
"hangover" row too over the question
of the President's right to make re
cess appointments after the Senate
fails to confirm. This is an intra
Democratic fuss however, Senators
Reed of Missouri and O'Gorman of
New York, being leaders of the anti
administration forces in the so-called
"patronage fuss." ,

Deficit Is Shown.
Pendleton Feb. 27. Umatilla is ne

Deficits are shown by 23 of the M

False) Fire Alarms
Pendleton Feb. 27. Two false fire
alarms, at an interval of one hour
were sounded last night. In both
case an alarm box had been "pulled"
There is no clew to the identity of
the culprit.
The first alarm was sounded at
9:15 o'clock from box No. 35 at West
Webb and Pino Streets. Both points
are leng distance from the fire sta
tion nnd in parts of town where no
Rtroet lights are near, enabling the
person turning in the alarm to escape
undetected.

make six this month. In four cases

alarms were turned in with good in
