COLLECTOR WARNS PEOPLE TO

Heavy: Penalties in Store or Those
. . . Who Fail to Remit. ,
Milton A. Miller, collector of in

out instructions and warning to in
come taxpayers of La Grande to keep
the annual fees in mind. . In his let
ters to people in this city, he says
Returns of . annual net income lor
the income tax for individuals and
corporations making their heturns
of annual net income based on the
calendar year, are due to be Tiled; on
or before the 1st day of March, and
failure to file such return on or be
fere that date will subject the de
linquent taxpayer to an additional
tax ol nity per ceni. ana iiaDiiny iu
heavy penalties provided by law.
All taxpayers are urged to" file
hk- or her returns at the earliest
possible date, and not to wait until
the last day when, through some in
advertence or oversight, he or they
may fail to file return and thus' be
subject to the additional taxes and
penalties.
The early' filing of returns is most
earnestly requested- so that the same
mav h dealt with in a more nromnt
and satisfactory manner, and ques

ofice time in which to do so.
With-holding agents should be par

er the Income Tax Law, especially
the fact that persons against whom
tax has been withheld have the right
under the lnw to file form 1008 with
them not later than thirty days prior
to March 1st, ' 1915, and that there
fore, the . annual returns of the with
holding mgents -should not be made
until after that date. :
Information in connection "herewith
will be gladly and promptly given,
upon application therefor either in
writing or in response to personal in
quiry at the Internal Revenue office,
and it is most earnestly requested
tuat returns he filed or information
