a patient at the Eastern Oregon State
hospital for the insane, escaped yes
terday by prying loose one of the iron
guards from an airing court. '
Bentley has escaped from the insti
tution before.
-1 He is said to be harmless, and al
ways goes to his home near Sumpter,
Baker county, where his wife lives. ,
He was ' committed to the. institu
tion at Salem from Baker county,
and transferred to Pendleton when
the branch hospital, was built here.
The hospital .officials are depend
ing upon Bentley's going home and
will await word from Sumpter before
making a thorough search for him.
