.Frank Meredith, secretary of the
state fair, has written to N. K. West,
a member of the board of directors,
setting out the details of the rules
and awards for county exhibits at the
state fair. The expense is said to
be light for such an exhibit, and the
state board is anxious to have every
county represented. The rules gov
erning the county-exhibit plan, follows:
I County Exhibits Rules.
' 1. But one exhibit from a county
will be allowed. , .
2. In order to insure a more
equitable competition, the state has,
been divided into three districts, and
premiums are offered pro rata for
each district; basing the amount of
money to be divided in each district
upon the number of counties entered.
Each exhibit scoring the required
number of points is insured premium
in the amount to be pro rated, with
the additional chance of participating
in' the premium money for high score
and beauty of exhibit
3. The First District shall com
prise Clatsop,' Tillamook, Lincoln.
Coos and Curry Counties. The Sec
ond District shall comprise Wasco,
Hood River, Columbia,' Multnomah,
Clackamas, Washington, Yamhill, Polk
Linn, Benton, Lane, Douglas, Jack
son and Josephine Counties. The
Third District shall comprise Uma
tilla, Sherman, Baker, Wallowa, Mor
row, Klamath, Lake, Harney,' Grant,

15. The samples of straw or stalk
should be cut close to the ground,
perfectly cured in the shade, if con-
.venient, and these very carefully
.'wrapped, tagged and packed.
