J. M. Johnson, barber, Main St.,

causing pain and ioreness in my.
back. One day a customer who heard
me complaining, told me Doan's Kid
ney Pills were good and advised me
to begin using them. I got a box
at Wright's Drug Store, (Nonw the
Red Cross Drug Store), and used
them but a short time before I. was
convinced that the man who recom
mended them to me knew what he
was talking about. I have used
Doan's Kidney Pills-off and on since,
and they never fail to give the best
of results in a short time. I am just
as ready to endorse them now as
ment several years ago. In my opin

of the highest praise."

TWO COMMISSIONERS EXPLAIN
COMPENSATION ACT.
Chicago Editor Also Hear to Attend
Meeting of Umbermen.
AU the principal details of the new
Workmen's compensation act which
becomes effective shortly, were ex
plained yesterday to a dozen or more
members of the Eastern Oregon Lum
ber Producers association by Messers
Marshall and Mitchell, of the Oregon
commission. ' The meeting was held
here as the Quarterly session of the
association and while other matters
came up, the compensation act was
one of the chief matters discussed.
The explanation and descriptions of
the act were made by the commission
ers in such a way that the millmen
became familiar with the law. ; ,
. Baker sent five timbermen, Wal
lowa one, and Union county mills
were well represented. C. J. Austin,
representing the American Lumber
man, published at . Chicago, was in
attendance. President Geo. Stoddard
presided, and the meeting was held!
in the La Grande National bank di
rectors room.
