Cattle Shipments to Coast Not Heavy
and Price Is Firm.
There is nothing now on the local
market which has not been advertised
some days ago. The price of green
stuff is going constantly down and
in a week or two prices will be just
about at midsummer levels for green
stuff. Local asparagus and spinach
are on the market already, and let
tuce is just about large enough for
marketing. . This will do away with
the necessity of having it shipped in,
save perhaps head lettuce.
Portland Indications.
The indications contained in Port
land market reports is good for rising
prices. The supply of beef is not
as large as it ought to be and this
circumstance is keeping the market
strong. Mutton is steady with no
indication of any great change. Wheat
seems on the. climb. Wool is likewise
one of the surprises of the market,
being from three to four cents high
er at this time of the year without
tariff on raw wool that it was last
year with, tariff. Florida foodstuffs
will soon be on the market and this
will have a tendency to lower the
price of imported stuff. Texas too
is just about ready to ship north and
west and sors of the shipments will
come this way. .....
Potatoes Cleaned Up. .
Potatoes in this section are gone.
C. M. Secor of the Oregon Produce
company shipped to Denver about
the last to be had in Imbler yester
day. The price has been fair and
while no great profit was realized,
farmers are satisfied.
