If you are building this year specify elec
tric lights. It is safe to say that 90 per
cent of the houses built in La Grande thin
year will install them. No home is modern
without them. They are as important as
sanitary plumbing.
Good lights are equally important, how
ever, if you happen to live in a rented
house. Your landlord owes it to you, and
you owe it to yourself to have nothing but
the best light. Electric lights are easily
installed and will prove a source of lasting
satisfaction to you. Call or phone Main 34.

Oranges are once more plentiful
The orange famine last week was not
long in its existence but was most
complete, and the arrived of delayed
carload lots was much appreciated,
as it were. The wholesale price on
oranges has gone up somewhat but
does not effect the retail figures.
Nothing new of importance and no
changes in prices, , is the summary
of market conditions this morning
Forest officers in Washington and
Oregon plan to discontinue the use of
barbed wire am their forests. This
will affect their own pastures and pub
lic drift fences. They say barbed wire
has no advantage over smooth wire,
that it injures stock, and that it is
more likely to be borne down by soft
snow. Stockmen of the Ochoco for
est, in Oregon, recently constructed
drift fences of smooth wire, though
with some misgivings; now they say
they will never use barbed wire again.
