If you are building this year specify elec
tric lights. It is safe to say that 90 per
cent of the houses built in La Grande this
year will install them. No home is modern
without them. They are as important as
sanitary plumbing.
Good lights are equally important, how

Riot Incitor Arrested.
Oregon City, March 16. E. E.
"Blackie" lies, alleged instigator of
the Oswego Home Telephone com
pany's strike riot last May, in which
one was shot and others were badly
injured, was arraigned in Judge
Campbell's court today, pleaded guil
ty to a charge of assault and battery
and was sentenced to serve six months
in jail. lies was arrested with 12
others but jumped bail. At the trial
of the remaining eleven, all of the
testimony given by these placed the
blame on the missing man.

London, March 16 Emmaline was
in again, and is out again, hunger
strike, "nuf ced," about Emmaline.
At dawn this morning six doughty
militants armed with hammers, smash
ed the windows of Home Secretary
McKenna's residence. They did not
try to escape arrest but submitted to
the officers and were "gently" taken
to the Westminster police court and
sentenced to six months' at hard la
bor. This is a record sentence and
will likely end as the rest have done,
namely, in their release on account of
a hunger strike.
