Amateur Action Get Away With a,
Pleasing Performances.
Union, Jan. 80. The citizens of the
City of Union were treated to one
of the best If not the best home
talent play ever rendered in the city
last Monday night when the Japanese
operetta, the Princess Chrysanthe
mum, was put on at the Cozy theatre
under the direction of Mrs. R. J.
Kitchen, of this city. . "
The house was crowded and extra
seats had been added to the regular
opera chairs and practically all the
extra space was taken before the
curtain rose. I

The plot of the playlet is set in a
Japanese garden and centers around
the marriage of the Emperor's daugh
ter to Prince So Tru The decora
tions of the stage was most artistic
and in keeping with the costumes
worn for the occasion.
The choruses throughout the op
eretta were rendered in a manner
that showed ability in all those tak
ing part and skill in training and the
solo parts of all brought for the great
est applause from the highly pleased
audience.
Between acts a vote was taken on
the most popular young lady in the
city of Union and the prize was
awarded to Miss Elenor Hall who
acted the principal part in the op
eretta. The public were so pleased with the
production that there is a strong de
mand for the same to be repeated.
The proceeds go to the public library
and will be the means of adding more
books to this institution.
