Salt Sent By Parcel Post. f
Two tons of salt were shipped
through Baker today by parcel post
from Pocatello to Burns, says the
Baker Herald. The strange ship
ment, which because, it is in an air
line of less than 150 miles comes with
in the second zone, will travel more
than 600 miles before It reaches its
destination, Almost eiroto is made,
the salt coming in on the C-W, R. &
N. to Baker today and being trans
ferred to the Sumpter Valley for ship-;
ment to Prairie City, whence it will
be sent by stage to Burns. The salt
was all done up in 50-pound sacks.
Postmaster Lachner says this is the,
largest parcel post shipment which'
has ever come within the notice of
the Baker postoffice.
House Fire Is Fatal.
Alpena, Mich., Jan, 21, -Five peri
sons were burned to death when the
home of Sam Bloise ,a laborer, burned
as the result, of a fire caused' by ah
exploding lamp.
'The dead are, Mrs. Sam Bloise and
three children find Danato Dalzano,

Comes to Be Married.
Miss Minnie Smiley arrived today
from Portland and this afternoon
was married to Francis Rose, recently
located in the Silverthorn drug store
as a druggist. The wedding took
place in the Catholic church.
