ter, Ethel, at their pleasant childhood
home in Fruitdale, were hostesses to
the Ladies Parkdale club last Wed
nesday afternoon The "afternoon
being stormy there was a fairly good
attendance. A part of the enter
tainment consisted of a pretty musi
cal number rendered by Miss Perham
of Island City. ' Mrs. Carrol gave a
reading entitled the Dying Year. - A
selection containing many a beautiful
and touching thoughts, and many ex
cellent ideas were expressed on the
subject taken up for discussion. At
the close of the afternon's enter
tainment dainty refreshments werie
served. ' The next meeting to be
held at the home of 'Mrs. Ella Rynear-
eon in Fruitdale, and the subject for
discussion is "What Can the Govern
ment Do that Will Benefit the Woman
on the Farm the Best?" '
