I took up the above described ani
mals while running at large and im
pounded the same by virtue of an
ordinance regulating the running at
large of stock within the City limits,
and unless the owner claims the same
and pays the cost of impounding and
keeping the said animals, I will at
the expiration of ten days from the
date of this notice, sell the above
described animals to the highest
bidder for cash.

marked thereon; and any person, firm, association or corporation violating
any of the provisions of this act, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine or not less than
$25.00 nor more than $100.00, or by imprisonment in the county jail for not
less than six months; or both such fine and Imprisonment"

The class in physiology this ' week
has been, doing some "first aid to the
injured" work. The method that the
life-savers use in restoring drowned
persons to life was demonstrated
both when one and two people were
assisting. The methods of restoring
life when people are overcome by
gas and electricity were also ex
plained. It was impressed upon the
minds of the students that such a
knowledge is very valuable as one
never knows when he may be called
upon to lend such aid. Some time
in the near future it is planned to
have the physiology class demonstrate
these mehtods to the whole student
body. . ,
. A new lot of chemicals and chemi
cal apparatus has just been received
which makes the efficiency of the
laboratory greater and also insures
greater ease and better results in the
experiments.
i The "Amphiction" a high school
literary society gave' their first pro
gram , Monday afternoon. Much
care and hard work in the prepara
tion of the different numbers rend
ered was shown by the excellent way
in which they were presented.
A meeting of the Junior-Sophomore
literary society was held Tuesday, at
which time a constitution was adopt
ed and the name "Laurean," mean
ing victory, was decided upon.
The publication of the first issue
of the "Student Life" has been noat-
Iponed until Monday and by so doing
the staff was given more time to
bring the first issue up to the point
of perfection,
A contest between the different
rooms of the high school as to which
can get the greatest number of sub
scriptions to the new paper is being
carried on in real earnest.
The basket ball game beteween the
seniors and sophomores Tuesdav
afternoon, was won by the seniors
to the tune of 36 to 15. The game
I between the seniors and juniors will
jbe played Thursday evening. This
game will decide the school inter-class
championship.
The Girls' Athletic association held
a meeting on Wednesday night at
which the names of 20 girls were pro
posed for membership. A committee
consisting of Lucile Pierce, 'Nellie
Story, and Leonore Hughey was ap
pointed to look after the number to
be taken in.
Roy Whitaker, sophomore, recently
left school, going to Pendleton with
his parents to live.
Ethel Phearson of the class of '13,
was a visitor at high school on Mon
day. Jeanette Stoddard was a visitor on
Wednesday afternoon.
Bessie Allinson, popular member
of the freshman class, left school
Wednesday and will make her home
in Portland. The school regrets los
ing Miss Allinson but the ill-health
of her father necessitates the change
of climate.
