The first program to be given by
either one of the two literary societies
will be given by the Senior-Freshmen
Monday afternoon, December 15. The ,that vacancy,
material for the first issue was hand
ed in Thursday and it is expected that
the first of next week will see "The
Student Life" in the hands of all citi
zens to be of La Grande. Gilbert
Hunter resigned his position on The
Student Lift staff as athletic editor
and Merton Westering will step into
taking a course in commercialism.
The Senior-Freshmen society met
Friday afternoon at the eighth per
iod in a busines session, in which
the constitution was adopted. Art. I
says that the name shall be "Am-
phictyons which means "neighbors."
The object' of this society as stated
in Art. II ("Shall be to benefit the
student body by (1) promoting liter
ary pursuits in the high school; (2)
by furthering social enjoyments in
the way of entertainments,' and (3)
by securing training In parliamen
tary practice." Under the heads of
the societies,, debating teams will be
formed, and of these the two win
ding teams shall be formed to repre
sent the high school.
