THE REGISTRATION LAW

There seems , to be some misunder
standing concerning the effect of the
ruling that many of the 1913 regis
trations are illegal. To clear the mat
. ter all that is necessary to say re
garding this vexing question is this:
All those who have registered since
last June are illegally registered and
Will have to be registered over again, j
: The ' notaries and justices - of the
peace who were , designated to per
form registration in places outside of
the county seat, were illegally ' ap
pointed and will have to be appointed
over again in accordance with the
new ruling, or others will have to be
selected in - their ' places. ' For La
Grande the county clerk will perform
. this duty. ,The , county clerk states
that every person should register for
the 1914 election. Books will be open
for that purpose from the first Mon
day in January and will be open until
some fifteen days before the primar
ies, which is on the 15th of May..
The tegular election takes place on
the 4th of November. '
