T. J. DeBorde, Sr., died Wednes
day morning at her home here at the
go of 78 years. She has been 111 for
several weeks and waa taken to the
La Grande hospital bnt brought back
about two weeko ago in order that she
might - spend her last days in her
home among old friends. She is sur
vived by her husband, a Grand Army
veteran, who is approaching' grand old
age of 78 years, and the following
sons and daughters: T. J. DeBorde, of
La Grande; Mrs. Burt Coons, of La
Grande; Mrs. Christy Pearl, Walla
Walla; Mrs. Ed Surby, Cove; Ben De
Borde, Cove; Prank DeBorde, o.
Cove; Mrs. Amy Valentine and seven
teen grandchildren. She. goes to meet
two daughters in the great hereafter.
Undertaker Roberts has charge of
the interment, whicn will take place at
Cove at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon,
October 31, 1913. The community ex
tends its hearty sympathy to the sor
rowing family in their loss of a kind
wife and mother,
The Wilson Stock company plaved
here Thursday, Friday, Saturday and
hunday nfghts.- The plays were, "The
Kentucky Pardner," "The Black
smith's Romance," "Jolly American
Tramp," and "The Punkin Husker".
From here the troop went to Union.
The Frosty ,and Shanghi schools
gave a program and basket supper
at the Shanghi school house last Fri
day night. It was will attertded in
spite of the rainy weather. They ex
pect to have one similar to this at the
Frosty school houie about Thanksgiv

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Mitchel are the
proud parents of a baby girl, born
Sunday, October 26.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Saunders and chil
dren left for California last week,
where Mr. Saunders expects to tench.
The high school will hold a Hal
lowe'en carnival. A short program
by several out of the school will be
followed by a mock-track meet and the
auctioning off of pumpkin pies.
