Sunday School union returned recent
ly from Wallowa county, where he
spent some time visiting Sunday
schools. He says there was consider
able snow fall in that section a few
days ago. Mr. Crymes left this morn-
'ing for Portland, where the American
Sunday School union missionaries of
' the northwest will hold an eight-day
efficiency and fellowship, conference.

Mrs. McCoy comes to La Grande on
Thursday evening in her' new play,
entitled, .'Tomorrow'.. Her La
Grande audiences are accustomed to
hear her in the Scotch dialect but this
play is strictly American. This is not
Mrs. McCoy's first appearance in
strictly English readings as "Dr.
Luke, of Labradore," is considered by
many, her most successful reading.

An old ramshackle sidewalk on T
avenue, that has been the terror of
pedestrians for the past year has nov
been repleced by a good concrete side
walk. Property owners along the

in the nature of better walks around

guest of her son, Henry White, Jf.; of

the Idaho country, but is thinking of
maxing her homo in La Grande in the

looking for investments. He left this
morning for Portland on business but

B. F. Stock well, of Wallowa, went

ness. Mr. Stockwell was at one tin
a resident of Ellensburg, Wash., and
came to the valle ytwo yeara ago. Hit
owns one of the best ranches in Wal
lowa county and is prospering.
' Mr. McConnell and daughter depart
ed this morning for their home in Elk
Grove, Cal , They were agreeably
surprised to meet - some intimate
friends of theirs on No. 17, going to
Sacramento. Mr. McConnel was at
one time owner of a large tract of
