Imbler's schools distinctly plural
are processing as satisfactorily as the
conditions would allow, finds Mrs. A.
E. Ivanhoe, county school superin
tendent The old district designated
as No. 11, which inclndea the city
proper, is using the L. D. S. and the
Methodist churches "and one room in
a nrivate residence, while district No.
78, the new district is using the former
Imbler school house and both institu
tions are doing exceptionally good
work finds Mrs. Ivanhoe. The sys
tem is the result of the division of the
district as the fanning element in the
original district asked for some time
ago. The school houie was sold to
the new district leaving the old dis
irirt without a place to conduct its
schools as bonds with which to build
are tied up in court.

the Oregon Power company, all of this

A Heavy Fine Is Imposed.
Newport, Or., Sept 30. Caught
Saturday disposing of intoxicating li
quors to Indians, Mark Rounds, em
ployed at a local hotel, was arrested
and fined $50 and costs for his of
fense. It is generally understood thai
"bootlegging" to Indians is quite com
mon in this community, and an effort
will be made to stop the illicit traffic
in intoxicants.

Country Babies Win.
Eugene, Or., Sept 30. Babies from
the country scored higher as a rule in
the Lane county fair eugenics contest
than did the babies from the cities.
Dr. Maron Ober had charge of the
scoring.
In the class A entries, Loree Laird,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Laird,
scored first with 99.3 points, among
the girls, and David Carrol Fountain,
eon of Mr. and Mrs, I. W. Fountain,
with 99.4 points, won first honors for
the boys.
A score of other babies took prizes.
