Baker follows the lead of other cities
and proposes to rid the streets of this
disreputable class jal joaiers. .
A man over 40 years old was taken
' before Police Judge Cunning yester
day charged with insulting a lady on
the street. The defendant, who gave
his name as John Doe, did not let
the case go to trial but pleaded guil
ty, giving as an excuse that he was
partly intoxicated. The Judge im
posed a fine of $50 which was prompt
ly paid.
The city authorities are determined
to break up the practice of insulting
women, either by staring at them or
by word of mouth, and a few such fines
will-cause would-be mashers to sit up
and take notice.
