Pendleton, Ore., June 21. Berger
would have won a shutout today had
it not been for his bad seventh.': With
two down in that inning, M'Kune con
tributed an error ' after ' which five
consecutive hits were clicked out for
La Grande's five and only scores.' The
visitors are still Spuds it seems. Nock
elby was wild in the first, three passes
and two errors , giving the Bucks two
in that frame without the aid of a hit.
In the third, hits were bunched off
him, four safe ones and a sacrifice
adding another brace. Two hits and is
walk filled the bases in the fifth and
Dawson cleaned them with a three

: Umpire, Hall. ,
A league meeting is scheduled for
Sunday in Baker at which the direct
ors will decide what course will be
pursued." It is said Caldwell is eager
to be admitted and will guarantee to
finish the season. The Idaho town is
said to be a good base bail town' and
would probably transfer three games
of each home series to Boise, which is
only an hour's ride distant, ni-f-if
Whether: or not the three sched
uled games not played in La Grande
this week will be forfeited to Pendle
ton is a question, inasmuch as it rain
ed . so hard in La Grande Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday that it is
doubtful whether or not it would have
been possible to play had La Grande
been willing. .
there vthfr league r directors will go
over' the situation. Dr. Johnson will
put Caldwell's proposition before the
league and the final steps taken to
ward- bringing V Caldwell ' into. the.
league. , , . .This will mean that the Bak
er team will open at Caldwell next
week. '

. Boise,' June 21. The deal which is
to put Caldwell into the Western Tri
State league is practically closed. The
necessary financial support is in sight
and Caldwell has selected Dr. W. H.
Johnson as its representative at the
league meeting which has been called
for Sunday at Baker. 1 '
The fans met at Caldwell Friday
and there was plenty of enthusiasm
The recent movement in favor of base
ball . has brought put the fact that
there are a number of live boosters
in the Canyon county city who can
be counted on for anything that means
progress to their community. They
are strong for the Tri-State and from
all indications the city can be de-.
pended on to give base ball good sup
port, v . ' '.
Dr. Johnson will accompany Presi
dent Sweet to Baker this evening.
