Boise, May 28. (Special) Moun
tain went to the hill for La Grande
yesterday and before he was taken
out, the bases were filled, to . be
cleared by a three bagger off Jami
son.' -
' Bridger was wild at : times, but
Mountain, who started to pitch for
the Spuds, was a whole lot wilder,
and in the sixth King had to take
him out He . sent Jamison to the
rescue with the bases loaded. Blaus
ser drove out a three base hit and
put the game on ice for Boise, so
Carl sent Collie Druhot to the mound
the. next inning, saving Jamison for
today. , Collie was. effective for the
remainder of the game.
Spuds Start First. .
Bridger . had i trouble finding the
plate when he started, and as 4, Je
suit La Grande scored ' in the first
inning. Bridger walked the first two
; men who faced hini He -fanned Na-4
dean, but King poled the timely hit
and scored Corbin. Naughton also
tried to come in on the hit, but
Winkler's swift peg cought him at
the plate.
The Irrigators hit on Mountain in
the fourth, When he commenced to
waver. Altermatt was ' passed.
Clark neatly sacrificed "and Gard
smashed a pretty single into left
Altermatt should have scored on the
hit, but Winkler, the coacher at third
held him there, Gard and Altermatt
then tried the double steal. Toots
got to second, but Baldy was nailed
at third.
Hit in Good Time.
Just when it looked as though the
Irrigators had lost their chance to
score Case got hold of one and slap
ped it for a safe hit, scoring Gard.
Jack went to second on the throw and
from there Winkler drove him in
with a clean single.
The Boise infield went bad in the
sixth and La Grande scored two

After two were out Druhot smash
ed a terrific hit through the box. Na
deau drew a pass. King hit an easy
one to Altermatt. Baldy fumbled it
and the nmade a bad throw to sec
ond. Before the ball could be recover
ed Druhot had scored and Nadeau
had gone to third. King was caught
on the base line, but while Reams
and Clark were fooling fith im Na
deau' socred, and La Grande was in
the lead again, 3 to 2.
Mountain Founders.
The same frame saw Mountain's
downfall. He walked Altermatt and
Clark beat out a beautiful bunt. Gard
tied the score with his second hard
single for the day. Case forced
Gard at second, but Mountain walk
ed Winkler filling the bases. When
he walked Bridger he forced In &
run and King pulled him for Jami
son. The latter was not fully warmed
up and the first thing that happen
ed to him was Blausser. Roy hit a
terrific drive into deep center field
for throt bases, scoring three men.
Friene put a short fly into center
field, but Blausser hastened and
counted on it
Hits by Walters and Corbin and a
pass issued to' Naughton filled the
bases in the seventh, but there were
Walla Walla Wins Opener.
Pendleton, Ore., M,ay 28. Osborne
got his bumps yesterday at the
hands of the slugging Bears and
Pendleton dropped the opener 9 to 2.
Leonard was in great form after his
rest except in the sixth when the
Bucks bunched four hits for their
only scores. The Bruins got to Os
borne's slants in the third for three
three-bagger which with a pass
were good for a' trio of runs. Three
more hits in the fourth with four
passes netted them four runs and an
errors with three hits gave them two
more in the ninth. The crowd was
greatly incensed at Starkell for his
seeming one-sided decisions . and
surged on to the field at the end of
the game, threatening to put him
in the river.
