"Freckleg," by Gene Stratton-Por-ter,
the most widely read novel of the
past two years, dramatized by Neil
Twomey, is announced for May 20th
at the Steward.
In the dramatization of this novel,
Mr. Twomey has followed the text of
the book faithfully, reproducing every
important scene contained in the
story.
"Freckles", is a pastoral play, beau
tiful in its simplicity, telling the ad
ventures and love story of a home--less
Irish lad in the 'great Limberlost
swamps of Indiana. There is no char
acter in modern fiction indowed with
more simple nobility and wonderful
sveetness. It its-said to be a greater
play than jt is a novel.
Crosbie Gill, the famous scenic art
ist, of Wallack's Broadway theatre,
New York, hm pictured the great
Limberlost swaiSp and Its environs
with consummate Skill, and the elec
tricians and stage otechanics' have
completed the picture, equal to nature
m every detail. As in other cities,
"Freckles" will be a dramatic event
here.
