retrieved honors blurred the day be
fore by coming back and winning
from North Yakima yesterday after
noon in a drizzling rain. After the
sixth inning he eased up perceptably
and during the easement, Engel's
Braves came over with' three runs in
the eighth and one in the ninth, bring
ing their total for tjie day to five.
While the Spud fielders "were reeling
off four double plays of the classy
sort, and the fielding in general was
stiff and tight behind Mountain, the
Spud swatters were getting to Kile
in such persistent manner that it was
impossible for the valiant pitching of
the slapster to stave off two runs to
the clib four different innings. Moun
tain scattered his hits so well that
only in the eighth was he touched for
more than one at a session. Beck
started it off with a single and Dru
hot'a drive to right was booted and
then Nadeau singled scoring Beck
and Druhot. Double plays when they
saved scores kept Yakima socreless to
the sixth when Jansen drew a pass
and came home on Fuller's double, a
scratch double after he had two
strikes against him. In the eighth,
Ford went up to first on Peterson's
error and . Jansen doubled, ' scoring
him. G rover walked and came to
third on Stokhe's hit to Peterson that
wasn't handled in the best shape and
home when Reid hit into a fielder's
choice. Gordon rang the bell in the
ninth, pinch hitting for Kile, doubling
and coming up when Fuller's hit to
Corbin was juggled. The last three
innings saw all the errors that La
Grande made. Peterson Corbin and
Lee who drove all the way from En
terprise yesterday morning to join
the Spuds reeled off lightning plays
often and anon. Beck's catch and
whip to King shutting off runs, was
one of the many features of a rattling
good game. The Spuds Had the visi
tors hooked and there was no chance
for the northerners at any time.
