"The Brander" is Title of Exciting
Amusement at Medical Springs.
Baker, May 7. (Special) Like a
picture of the plains were the scenes
and incidents enacted at "The Brand
ing," a typical , wild west show, the
biggest little affair of the kind that
ever took place, which was pulled off
last Sunday at Medical Springs, about
20 miles northwest of , Baker, under
the management of Pat Powers, as
sistant manager of the well known
healjh resort owned by that veteran
pioneer trail breaker, politicaian and
.all around empire builder, Hon. Dun
ham Wright, who . was j personally
present and extended ' that cheering
hospitality that has always been pro
verbial of him and his enviable wife
and daughter, Mrs. Grace Foye.
Baker Visits Eugene.
The champions of track and field
in this section of the state, Baker
high, will attend the Eugene inter
scholastic meet.- The following ath

440 yard run; Francis, broad jump;
Bachman, broad jump; Weeks, ham
mer throw arid pole vault; Hyde,

scores, one with a single and one with
a sacrifice fly, admiringly says the
East Oregonian.
Harlow and Dowljng returned from
Walla Walla to Baker yesterday.
Harlow was released Tuesday and a
wire received by E. G. Dedrick from
C. A. Hosier today stated that he
could not use Dowling, says the Baker
Herald. Taylor made a poor showing
on first base, but the manager stated
he would soon be able to fill the po
sitions of short stop, first base and
catcher. Themen are working to
gether better every day and by the
time they arrive here for the opening
game, will have their team down to
perfection.
