The citizens of Salem, Mass.. are
not lu accord on the Question of
erecting a monmument. to Nathaniel
Hawthorne, the inan who put It on
the map tor all time. Salem, snubbed
Hawthorne unmercifully" during his
life, and he retorted by painting it

and now the authorities have started
