the Clearwater river at Orofino. The
bridge la being bu.'i by the county of
Clearwater and the contract price Is
18.000. The bridge will give the
farmers of the rich section of coun
try near Rusell and Gilbert across to
Orofino and the railroad without the
expense and difficulty of crossing the
river on the ferry.

cated on the west branch of Priest
river and along Moore's creeg, cover
ing some 18,000 acres of land in the
national forest.
The sale of the timber will mean a
great deal of activity in the district
In the next few years, as under the
terms of the sale the timber must be
removed at a rate of not lees than
j 30,000.000 feet a year. It ia a expect
ed a number of new sawmills will be
built as a result.
Bidders for the timber are required
by the government to submit with
their offers a statement of the pro
posed meana of logging and develop
ment, which will be ocnsldered In
awarding the timber.
About 55 per cent of the timber, or

white pine and the balapce la about
equally divided between yellow pine
and Englemann spruce.
