Men who are familiar with the
. grain situation say there 1b no sur
plus wheat In the country and that
all of the wheat will be required to
upply the home demands. This In
dicates that the price will be satis
factory to those who have not sold all
of the summer's harvest. Chicago
markets were weak but the price on
the Pacific coast has not dropped
and the statisticians claim that It
will be firm from now on until the
next croo arrives. Good weather re
ports will have little effect on the
situation they think, owing: to amount
of grain on hand. "
The price of flour In La Grande
Is still the same but any appreciable
advance In the price of wheat 'will
have the effect of raising the price
In the local market. The millers' are
well supplied with wheat and there
Is no likelihood that the price of
- wheat will become exorbitant.
