Wheat Strong and Fralt Is Advancing
Steadily.
Th highest price paid for beet on
the Pacific Northwest was paid yes
terday. It vas a banner day In fat
teers and the price has hit the eight
cent notch, likely 4o stay for some
time to come. This will make the
price In La Grande seven cents on
the hoof for the beat grades with a
slight reduction for the inferior
grades.. The recepts were not very
heavy and there is a dearth of choice
stock for the Portland market. There
seems to be too much feed In the
country and too few steers to eat It
Hops Show Xe Change.
The receipt of hogs was lighter
than In the fore part of last week
and the price remained the same.
Hogs are plentiful and there is no
likelihood that hogs will keep pace
with cattle.
Wheat Is Strong;
Reports from all the markets of the
world indicate that wheat will ad
vance in price. "London and Paris
have been buying at one and two
cents higher than yesterday, and the
shipments from American porta are
lincreaalng. rtortland shipped over
50,000 bushels to the London mar
ket. This will not Immediately affect
the home market but the advance
seems to be of a nature that will
make flour higher everywhere.
Fralt Advancing.
As a result of the frost In the
great orange state, fruit baa taken
xpurt and will be active from now on
because all of the orange market
seems to be turned over to the apple
men. Apples should be climbing

People will differ on politics, religion and most every other subject
under the sun, but there Is ono thing Mint ninety-nine cpople cut
of every hundred agreo on, that Is; the superiority of
Electric Lights
over all other kinds. The question naturally arises then: "Why are
not all home lighted by electricity?" The answer Is simple. Some
people who are not familiar with lighting progress till think that
electric lights are expensive. We are convneing people dally of
the economy of electricity freighting. Will you give us a chance
to prove It to your satisfaction?
