Portland Prices Range to SI Cents
for Club Spirited Condition.
Tbe wheat market Is excited in
Portland. Everyone is trying to buy
and holders are getting the fever
and are asking more money. More
business was done recently than at
any time during the season to date.
The only drawback to making record
purchase 1 tbe fact tbat growers
are not so eager to let go.
Club bid are ranging as high as
81c a bushel, in fact sale were re
ported in southeastern Washington at
that figure, basis tidewater rtaik de
livery. Puget Sound interests were
the buers. Business in the Big Bend
is reported on the basis of 84c tide
water, net to grower. This really
means 85c to the buyer, counting the
buying charges. ; "!
The situation Is the strongest . of

Cream Tests WelL
A deputy food Inspector waa In the
city some time ago and took samples
of the products of the different estab
liitinents. Among other things that
were tested was a sample of Icecream
maaufaeturerad by one of tbe local
creameries. . In a letter from the de
partment otflcals at Salem the chem
ist stated the product contained 20
per cent butter fat. They likewise
sent with this letter a small pam
phlet showing tbe number of tests
made throughout the state with a va
riety of food stuffs. Examination of
the tests made with Ice cream
brought out the fact tbat of all tests
made in the last few months but one
other man had credit for 20 per ceni
butter fat In bia proauu. This per
centage was the highest recorded.
Some went aa low as 11 per cent.
As there are -a number of tbe can
dy stare and drug stores in tbe city
using this cream the public will feel
relieved to know they are getting a
good product for their money.
