Portland
of. La Grande feel like she was not
so bad after all. Recent exposure of
moral perverts In the metropolis is
o shocking that family newspapers
like the Evening Observer hesitate
In giving mention to such revolting
acts.
Most of Importance to the outside
state Is the desire that Portland
should colonize her criminals and
keep thorn at home. Perhaps that Is
what that city wanted with the iRoss
Island. A leper colony would be
sweet scented compared with the
moral pervert colony and perhaps the
citizens who knew wished to pur
chase the Island In order to have an
Isolated spot for these sexual degen
erates. That the T. 51. C. A. should have
have been dragged into this disgrace
ful transaction as an organization Is
to be deeply regretted, and It Is to be
further lamented that there are those
who would attempt to lay the burden
on tha organlzalon, which has ever
been working along right lines and
T nrande. When they were boenat
tered with mud by the new f.rc en
gine they liked It. when they saw
;he cluster lights on the streets, tl'cy
ilked them; when they visit id the
hl!i school building they were stir
prised at Its splendor and when they
observed the clearing sheet showing
the bulance of trade each day 1ii La
Grande they were astonished. These
boys will come again, and In ;-eturn

visit to Haker. It Is the rteht and
proper thing to do, and It would be
an enojyahle event.

To Erect Two Large Greenhouses to Add to Our Present Buildings
Starting into the greenhouse biu iness this summer in a limited way, I have been
cautiously feeling my way along, adding new stock to the greenhouses, building
more buildings and investing my capital. I have satisfied myself fully that I
have associated with me a good grower, a man who thoroughly understands
plant life and who can successfully grow anything that will thrive in this cli
mate. I have satisfied myself (from the sales already made) that La Grande and
the surrounding country is large enough to support a much larger plant than
we now have; what we can raise now would not begin to supply the local de
mand. So fully satisfied am I that the investment is a good one, I have invested
every dollar of my capital in the enterprise.
I am not content to stop here. The possibilities of the business can hardly be
realized. Each day I can see new ways of making money in the business. There
is no question about selling all the stock we can raise. "Ve can raise the finest
of carnations here and Portland florists would gladly take a thousand dozen a
week of us had we them to sell. We are now buying most of our cut flowers. In
stead we should be growing them ourselves. This means more buildings and
necessarily more capital. This is no stock selling scheme whereby we are offer
ing twenty dollar gold pieces for one dollar invested. It is a good straight, legiti
mate, payirj business proposition. We desire $3,000.00 more cash capital in the
business and will sell 300 share of stock at $10.00 per share for this' purpose.
I sold one of the best dividend raying propositions in This city to go into this
business and firmly believe it has a much greater future. '
Would prefer a man to take tlie whole of this stock and devote his time to the
business or a lady who .could take charge of the store and allow me to devote
my time at the greenhouses. Here is an excellent opportunity for a lady with
this amount of capital to establish herself in a very pleasant business.
If you are interested about this all and talk it over.
