a lot of wealth with full anticipation
that the time will coua before long,
too, when "they can sit by the .fire
side and read the markets" with a
feeling of gladness when they aoe the
apple quotations. 'They know there
Is money In ths business and being
possessed of that "Seattle spirit" they
want to get theirs.

days thereafter.
Section 3. When the recorder of
the city of La Grande shall have com
pleted the special assessment roll in
accordance with the .provisions of this
ordinance he shall without delay give
at least five days notice In one or
more of the newspapers having a gen
eral circulation In said city of the
time when such assessments will be
come delinquent and also that said
assessments may be paid in
Installments, provided each prop
erty owner will make application
therefor within ten days from the
date of the first publication of said
notice, said application to be made
under ntod by virtue of the provisions
of Chapter 6, Title 26, L. O. L. Thio

The Neighborhood Club and the Boys of the
Y. M. C. A. are working together to make a cleaner
city by securing the co-operation of the citizens cf
La Grande in doing the following things during this
week. Will you do your part?
1. Pull up and burn all dried garden stuff.
2. Rake up and burn weeds and leaves in yard a ad
street. This should apply as well to all vacant
lots.
3. Clean up all barnyards.
4. Trash breeds disease, flies and other pests.
5. All of the above applies to the downtown prop
erty as well as to the residence section.
6. Watch all fires. Fires must be out by 7:00 p. m.
