The "Lion" and the "Mouse," which,
combined and supported by a strong
cast, make up the troupe, "The Lion
and the Mouse", arrived In the city
today In anticipation of producing
that stellar show at the Steward to-
nght.t The ticket sale hag been brisk
and the opening of the theatre season
here tonight promises to be a bril
liant one.
Charles Klein erected a monument
to his ability as a dramatist when he
wrote "The Lion and the Mouse", the
play of love and political Intrigue
which has been so conspicuously be
fore the public for the past three
years. Mr. Klein struck an original
idea when he selected the money ques
tion as the basis of the story. People
of all stages of life have become well
aware of the abuses In the possession

of extravagant wealth, and when Mr.
Klein pictured- Its -misuses -In dramat
ic form, he , Immediately , began to
reap a reward such as few playwrghts
have received from a single effort
The United Play Co. will send "The
Lion and the Mouse" tonight at the
Steward.' .

Josh Perkins" , the famous
New. England rural comedy, brought
up to date and equipped, with flew
scenery and effects, la to be presented
at the Steward on Oct. 22. Few plays
have lived as long as this amusing
reproduction of farm life, and It is be
cause of Its naturalness, Its whole
some1 humor, and its innocent pleas
antry that 'Uncle Josh Perkins" con
tinues to delight thousands of play
goers every week, year in and year
out It Is several seasons since this
rural comedy haa visited this vicinity,
and Its welcome should be all the
greater for that reason. "Uncle Josh
Perkins" will be presented by a care
fully selected cast, - and the world
famous .'Wube Band" will, as usual,
be very much In - evidence. The
customary street parade, without
which no rnral comedy 'is complete,
will be given at noon on the day of the
performance.
