Every effort that we make is for Constructive purposesnothing to Destroy or
Obstruct. We believe in the continued and rapid progress of La Grande and the de
velopment of her resources, and we aie doing our share of the work. We are opening
and grading Washington Avenue all the way from the end of the new asphalt paving
(right at the head of Connordale Addition) to the County Road. We are grading and
planting the parking strips of Connordale with grass, trees and shrubs. We are building
and improvzng and. growing. - We are too busy to criticize, get in the way or lay back in
the traces. We do not believe that "the country is going to the dogs," as the calamity
- howlers would have us believe. We know that La Grande is, the best town we have ever .
seen in the Northwest or any other part of the coiintiy, and a good, many other people
feel the same way about it. If Everybody felt that way and went but and told about1 it,
the population of La Grande'would double in a year. La Grande is leaping ahead. 1 Hun
dreds of new houses have been built recently. Real estate any place in town is a good
- - investment. This is especially true of Connordale ion account of its fine location, "'close
ness to center of town, city improvements and building restrictions, added to the fact that
when Washington Avenue is finished it will be reached by ar asphalt street. Whatever
