this year for their skill In growing
agricultural produce and making use
ful articles; that 88 local or county
children's fairs will be held through
out the state; and that 60,000 Oregon
boys and girls will take some part In
the work this year were Borne of the
facts presented this niternoon at the
Chautauqua by Calvin C. Thomason of
Salem, field manager for the chlldren'r
statewide contest. The culmlnatlou
of this series of fairs will be In the
state fair where a prize list valued at
$3,500 has been prepared.
"We have gained for Oregon some
valuable publicity through the con-,
test movemen.. at least 800 columns
of space being given to it from the
Saturday Evening Post and the New
York American down to the smallest
country weeklies. Eight hundred out
of the .1,000 Oregon ministers have
preached sermons of the work. Grang
es, county superintendents, teachers
and commerclalclubs have given ns
their hearty co-operation.

to trim their eyes. The best scores
