ILINlblL
One hundred and thirty-six years ago tomorrow our Forefathers, assembled in solemn conclave in
Independence Hall in Philadelphia, gave to the World a DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE in which
they asserted that "ALL MEN ARE BORN FREE AND EQUAL." Shortly before that time the good peo--ple

V The stirring days of the Revolution are gone forever. On the fourth day of each July we lay aside
our work and suspend our business transactions in grateful memory of the gallant dead who made it possible
for this country to become a Republic, and for their children's children to live and work under conditions of
the greatest industrial and political freedom that the World has ever known. Allhonor to our courageous fore

tise superior to it. ,
We bend our heads- in reverence to the memory of the Founders of this Republic; we believe in and -abide
by the Constitution they created; we hold the Declaration of Independence that they pronounced to be
essentially as true now as then, ' , .,
BUT; ARE are all men free and equal?
- Is the man who occupies his home at the pleasure and will of another as FREE as he who can call
his home his own? Is he EQUAL to the home-owner in the eyes of the World, in his own opinion in the re
gard of his employers or business associates, in the confidence that he has in himself and the security that he
feels in the future for himself and his family? Doesn't the regular monthly payment of RENT with noth
ing to show for your money but RECEIPTS closely resemble TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTA
TION.' .. ,r
Now is the time for you to revolt from the power of the LANDLORD. Set aside Independence Dav
as a fitting occasion and celebrate it by declaring that you will '
