Many La Grande people who have

these people will try simple buckthorn
bark, glycerine, etc., as compounded In
Adler-1-ka, the German appendicitis

GAME IX MEEK.
Wonderful Battluy Rallies Redeem Ln
Granders Yesterday.
With excitement galore attending,
and more hilarity and shouting than
bas been manifest since Western Tr!
state clubs first performed In La
Grande, the Pippins broke even iu t ie
Walla Walla series by taking the third
victory yesterday afternoon. The per
fonnance la commendable ln view of
the fact that the tailenders lave been
dealing with the leaders all week, and
for th first time broke even In a ser
ies since the league was born.
Imagine 28 blngles from slnglej to
triples, ten free transportations to
first, two balks, a wild heave or two
exemplar base running and Insido
baseball, boneheaded performances
that were very, very amusing,' eight or
nine errors and some umpiring that
was shady, and you have about all the
ingredients that were visible In the
compound dished out as baseball. Cer
tainly no game ever attained the white
beat of excitement this one did.
Trusty Mclvor was on the hill' top
and made it two straight victories for
himself ln the series. He at plenty on
them to keep out of danger and Inso
far as his pitching was concerned was
at no time ln serious danger of defeat.
His teammates behind him helped to
get him Into the mire occasonally and
then. helped him out. .
.PUtman, whose offerings were
straightened out for a victory early
In the week, lost the game for Walla
Walla and when he was derrlcked in
the eighth, It was too late, for the
damngo , had been done. Kelly es
sayed the redemption role but failed.
Big "Hap" Smith scored Barry after
the manager had himself singled In
tne nrst, lJt the truck raisers came
back In the second with Martini's dou
ble scoring Johnson who walked to
first, and the spaghetti man himself
scored cn a balk, or what Gove said
was a balk which amounts to the
same thing. From there to the fifth
La Grande was helplessly worshiping
at the shrine of Pittman, but broke
the spell when Forbes doubled and
Mclvor's grounder was mussed up. ln
the sixth the slaughter that La Grande
gave the Walla Wallans was sweet
to behold. Bludgeons worked with
clock-like regularity until all had bat
ted aud five runs scored. Walla Wal
la created a rally that Inning, too, and
chased four over, tightened teamwork
coming to Pittman's rescue. He was
going deeper Into the mire every in
ning and his end came ln the eghth.
Four hits ln the ninth came near tie
lng the score but Mensor put a stop
it with the second of a brace of
sensational catches around second.
The score:
