per cent of the total bid, paynble to
the order of the Grande Ronde Vah-
ley Irrigation company, as a guaran
tee that the bidder will, if successful,
promptly execute a satisfactory 'con
tract and furnish bond for the faith
ful performance of the work as re
quired by paragraph five of .the 'speci
fications. ; Each proposal' must also
be accompanied by a guarantee of re
sponsible sureties to furnish bonds as
