ELGIN IS ONLY COMMUNITY THAT
IS REGISTERING.
Other Precincts of County Are LeUiar
glo la the Extreme.
Elgin Is the only district In Union
county that Is paying any attention to
registration for the primaries that
pave the way for the general elections
next fall. In every other precinct In
the county save the two at Elgin there
Is deplorable lethargy. By April 9
all registrations to vote at the pri
maries must have been made, or the
voter will have to be sworn in at the
polls. Especially is this important
this year where the general elections
are concerned and the voter who will
not register is distinctly derelict In
his' duties to the state and nation.
At Elgin about half the voting
strength is registered and County
Clerk Wright Is encouraged at the
prospects of getting at leaBt ondistr t
prospect of getting at least one dis
trict well represented early. At the
.finish there will be a tremendous rush
unless the matter Is attended to now
by at least some of the voters in the
many precincts throughout the county.
Journal Praises Tilly Olson.
The Portland Dally Journal says of
the Tilly Olson show which plays here
at the Steward January 25th: "Tilly
Olson," the better half of the Yon
Yonson family, occupied the stage at
the Empire yesterday afternoon and
last night, greatly to the entertainment
of her many devoted admirers. The
Swedish dialect plays have a special
clientele of their own many who donl
go to see anything else, don't fail to
grasp an opportunity to see the dialect
comedians in their work, and the at
tendance at both performances was
large.

EYESIGHT SPECIALIST
Next Door to the Post Office
Many La Grande people take their
lives in their hands by neglecting the
kidneys when they know these organs
need help. Sick kidneys are respon
sible for a vast amount of suffering
nnd ill health, but there Is no need to
suffer nor to remain in danger. Use
Doan's Kidney Pills a remedy that
has cured thousands of kidney suffer
ers. The following statement leaves no
ground for doubt.
Mrs. Cella Badger, Union, Oregon,
says: "For four years I was afflicted
with dropsy, ftly hands and feet swel
led greatly and I had puffy spots be
neath my . eyes. My back ached In
tensely and there were acute pains di
rectly over my kidneys and in my left
shoulder blade. The kidney secretions
were unnatural and this plainly con
vinced me that I had kidney com
plaint. "Rendir.g of similar cases where
Donn's Kidney Pills Tind been taken
with benefit, I was led to try them
and they gave me relief. . I have since
kept this remedy in the house and its
use has always proven beneficial."
