who entered the river in 1732 and
named it "Columbia's River," after
his ship, the Columbia, which act of
discovery 1s the foundation of Air.erl

The other piece of wood Is from the
ship Peaver, which sailed from
Gravesend, England, and arrived at
tho Columbia river In 1836. The ship
was wrecked at Burrard's Inlet, B. C,
