j San Francisco, Jan. 1. With the lid

New Years with the greatest joyfest
in the city's history. It ended mostly
thig morning but started early last
night. Over 300,000 danced on the
streets at midnight.

Step. Son Causes Arrest of South La

at his step-son, Ray Thomas, Satur
day. About six months ago Crane and
his wife separated and Mr. Crane has
not been living at the Crane home
since then.' Mrs. Crane's son, Ray
Thomas has made his home there in
the meantime taking care of his moth
er.;. Saturday Crane lg. said to have re
turned to the home and.wnen his step
son Informed him that either he or
Mr. Crane would have to leave either
one of which arrangements would , be
satisfactory to Thomas the elder of
the two men is said to have pulled a
revolver and made as if to shoot.
When the evidence was presented to
Justice Williams shortly after Crane's
arrest by ' I. W. Faulk, a sentence of
guilty and a fine were pronounced on
Crane. Because he did not have the
money he is serving 12 days in the
county Jail.
