covered by more stringent laws this

and 16 years, all children must be in
school and parents are held responsi
ble as before for their attendance in
school. Jail sentences go with thi

Another feature of the law often
violated Is that parents cannot teach
the children themselves without a per

The truancy list Is not large but sev
eral have been rounded up and headed
toward the school buildings.
