Honoring Good Indians.
Santee, Neb., Sept 19. Many visi
tors have gathered bjere for the cele
bration and fair arranged by th In
dians of the Santee agency. The cele
bration, whi-ch began, today and will
continue until Friday. Is givpn 1n
honor of the deceased Indian chiefs,
Wanpekoote and Medwakantonwan.
During each of the four days there
are to h? dances, athletic sports, ad
dresses by prominent speakers . and
concerts by the Santee Indian brass
band, which is one of the oldest or
ganizations of its kind in the country.
Thp big day of the celebration will be
Thursday, when tto best Indian dan
cers of the Sioux, Omaha, Chippewa
an Winnebago tribes will contest for
cash prizes.
