W. has constructed a bridge "across the Grande Ronde river at the Palmer mill and has Installed Its steam shovel in the'gravel pit Ihere, and It will sup ply, the necessary gravel for the re pair of the track un to the summit. Extra gangs will be put o work to morrow, morning, so that the ballast ing can proceed without any hitch. The work was to have commenced to day but the rain yesterday retarted the setting up of the stea mshovel. The pit was reached only after considerable preperatlon.
