Fourth, street: from the north line of
Adams avenue, to the south Una of

Notice is hereby Hven that the as
a eesment roll for vhe Improvement of
Fourth stmt frou the north line of
Adams Avenue to the sputa line of 0
avenue, being In Improvement district
No. 9, in the city of La Grande, Ore
gon, ttnder the provisions of ordi
nance No. 629, series 1911, entitled,
"An ordinance declaring the cost of
improving Fourth street from ,the
north line of Adams avenue, to tha
south .line of 0 avenue; determining
the property benefitted, thereby, levy,
lng an assessment thereon, to defray
the costs and expenses of the im
provement;, providing for the assess
ment roll of the same and directing
the entry of said assessment in the
docket of city Hens; providing a time
when the same . shall become delin
quent and requiring the city recorder
to prepare a special assessment roll
In accordance with the assessment
herein levied and to collect said as-,
seasment," the same being . In Ira,
provement district No. 9, In said city
of La Grande, Oregon, is now in my
hands for collection and that any
assessment therein may be paid to
me at any time ten 0) days from the
first day of June, 1911, without pen
alty. Interest or cost; and each prop
erty owner is hereby! notified that on
application to the undersigned with
in, ten (i0) days from the 1st day ol
June, 1911, which is the first publica
tion of this notice, they will be al,
lowed to pay such assessment in ten
(10) annual. Installments,', the Urst in
stallment thereof being due. and pay
able on or before the 10th day of

amount will be and become due, pay

which will go from La Grande to Jo
seph on a special train and will enjoy
three days at the, Head of the Lake.
The Farmers union U behind the ex
cursion and there will be features of
the organization discussed at the malt
ing, but It Is not strictly, speaking a
Farmers union gathering. This was
stated this morning by E. S. Morris who
Is prominent In the union. He said
everyone was Invited to join th ex
cursion party and enjoy the event.

The Chehalls dirty council awarded
paving contracts aggregating $37,740
to the Warren Construction company.
The streets to be improved are a por
tion of Chehalls avenue. North street,
Prlndle street and Center street, with
bltulithlc. A, mile, and a quarter of
East Marktt street is to be paved with
Warrenite 18 feet In width; t
