Supreme Court Holds That Goodwin Must Sot Marry In New York. New York, March 28. Judge Gier gerlch of the supreme court today af firmed the report of Referee Thomp son and granted an Interloctury de cree of divorce to Edna Goodrich from Xat Goodwin, the actor. Goodwin is forbidden to marry within this state while Edna lives and sh is allowed to resume her, maiden name and mar- ry whenever she wishes. Th first of the so-called Alaska ccal lunl fraud cases, resulting from indictment.5 re turned by the federal grand jury last fall, were called in court today for trial. The defendants are C. F. Muu day, Archie W. Shields, Karl Siqley and Algernon S. Stracy. Th3 charge against the four men is conspiracy to defraud the United States government out of Alaska coal lands valued at more than $1,000,000. ' University First With Hive Victories. University of Oregon, Eugene, MarVh 27. The, Inter-Collegiate Ora torical association, composed of the 'sftt l32d!ng colleges of Oregon, has been in existence for 19 years. Nine teen contests have been held. The university of Oregon leads with five victories to her credit. Pacific college eind McMlnnvIlle college tie for sec ond place, with four first places each, VUlamette university, Pacific unlver Vty and Albany college tie for third place, with two victories each. The "iregon agricultural college and the Monmouth normal schaal have been unfortunate neither of them ever hav 'ps won a first place. An tn husiastic host of Sunday school work ers rallied here today for the annual -onvention of the Florida State Sun clay School association. At the for T.al opening of the gathering this af ternoon the speakers included Gov ernor Gilchrist and President H. B. Minium of Jacksonville, together with an imposing array of educators repre senting all of the leading colleges and schools of Florida. At th- subse quent sessions of the convention, which will last over tomorrow and Thursday, there will be addresses by several Surfday school experts of na tional reputation. Prof. E. O. The first impeachment trial that has taken place in this section of the country in many years convened here today to try Judge John F. Cowan, "of the sec ond judicial district of North Dakota. Articles of impeachment against Judge Cowan were filed with the legislature several weeks ago and that body .im mediately took the steps necessary to bring about a trial of tha. case. Eight charges have been brought against the defendant. The first trial is that of habitual drunkenness. The other charges relate to alleged acts In violation of-the laws of the state, the alleged use of Indecent language In public and various other offenses in juiious to public morals. Mormons Are Aroused. ' London; March 28. Mormons in Eu rope are striving to send Immigrants to Utah in order to overcome the growing Anti-Mormon vots in Utah, declared H. P.'Freese today, of the international reform bureau of Wash ington, who is in.jcharge of the work of driving Mormon missionaries from from Europe. Every Mormon woman, after ten year's residence, becomes a voter.
