plumber, announces that he will use
a lease on the Lincoln grounds, obtain
ed from G. A Lincoln several months
ago and plans to organize a team at
once, on lines different entirely to that
pursued by other towns in this section
of the state.
"With thz ccmniciuiai ciub lust, com
ing out of ita reorganization, it finds
itself swamped with business so that
It cannot, like Baker, stand sponsor to
the' La Grande club. "Business men
find themselves too actively engaged in
their own affairs to give the needed
attention to organization," said Brad
ley today in announcing his purpose,
"and I will commence the gathering
of players at once so that the league
can be formed on time. Union, Baker
and Elgin are ready to complete the
league with La Grande but this city
has been doing nothing toward organi
zation, and consequently I took the
matter up and will go' ahead."
No Funds Solicited.
Unless it becomes a matter of ex
treme necessity later on, Mr. Bradley
will not solicit financial support froir
business men, planning to keep thr
team on its own tooting If such a thine
is possible. In any event a club will
will be organized without funds ant
put to playing and if it Is found that
the other teams have so much bettei
material than that which can be pro
duced by La Grande's amateur rankj
and the gate receipts do not admit of
the employment of one salaried man
as the by-laws of the proposed leaeur
will allow for, then and not until then
will the hat be passed, as It has already
been in the other towns.
There are several good ball players
in the city who are new to La Grande
and with what material already here
Mr. Bradley believes he can whip out
a winning team without support fron:
business men.
However, he has placed a string to
his conditions and that is that he will
not assume the business management
of the team his duties involving the
players only and a meeting of prospect
Ive members of the t-.am will be heW
Immediately to select a non-playlnp
resident of La Grande to handle the
business end of the club.
Bradley has held a lease all winter
on the grounds but the fact has not
been announced before and though he
is willing to relinquish his lease o'
other arrangements were to be made.
he has expressed himself as tired o'
the delay and with the condition named
intends to commence "mobilization" of
players immediately. It Is thought th
league will he formed within the nex'
ten days.
THE CAUSE OF COLDS.
Good Advice Regarding the Prevention
of Coughs and Colda.
If people would only fortify and
strengthen the aystem, the majority
of cases of coughs, colda and pneu
monia might be avoided. These trou
bles are frequently due to weakness,
which produces a catarrhal condition
of the murous membrane, which Is an
Internal skin of the body. When this
skin Is weakened it becomes easily In
fected with germs which cause many
of the diseases to which flesh Is heir.
Healthy mucous membranes are es
sential safeguards of the body's gen
eral health. '
We 'bare a remedy which we hon
