i' John and Marion Pierce of Haines
are now in the county Jail awaiting
the action of the grand Jury. It is
alleged that they assaulted the con
ductor and trainmen on No. 5 Friday
night while they were attempting to
beat their way to Haines. The- train
was stopped between here and Haines
and the boys put off. and It was then
that the trouble occurred.
F. E. Pierce, father of the-bovs.
made the following statement to the
Herald: "In regard to the row on
the train I am informed by eye wit
nesses that my boys are a little' to,
blame and the train crew are more to
Mime. I am Informed that the boys
strrted home Friday night, having 70
rents between them. One bought a

was1 put off. Then he got on and paid
