D. E. Meyers, buyer for Kiddle Bros,
shipped one car of hogs from Imbler
yesterday which were nice even 200
pound average which always brings
top prices in the Portland market. Mr.
Meyers, In speaking of the hog market
said that the supply of marketable
slu3 is funning low. Extra b't hogs
are considerably less In pr'ce than
the small average. He also zald thst
the farmers should go into the hog
business on a more extensive .cat? as
this country Is the natural homo "of
the hog" as only once In the history
of this valley has there been any
cholira and that in hogs ht were
shipped here. Never in the history of
Wallowa county has thero een a
case of contagious diseaso among the
swine.

"Seven Days" a Continuous Scream

" Effervescent with mirth from curtain
to curtain, bubbling over with just
plain foolishness," "Seven Days" en
tertained a fairly well sized audience
at the Steward laat night. The play
is good for grouch and rain in the
facia. The comedy is spontaneous and
continuous; the entire story of a half
score of people unused to self reliance
being cooped up in a home without
servant for sev.ii days because of
quarantine, being a string of farcical
and ludicrous situation that can't help
but enteitaln. With a well-balanced
company the story Is aptly handled. It
Is no wonder It has scored a success
everywhere that theatre goers like to
laugh with "Seven Days" behind the
footlights a theatre is obnoxious to
plaster parts faces.
But there is a but. "The Man from
Mississippi," playing here last we.fi,
had a tone of comedy, sprinkled and
seasoned with aober thoughts and mo
ments, that was not attained by "Seven
Days."
However, P.t us not shear from the
virtues of "Seven Days." It was writ
ten for the purpose of making laugh
ter and mirth It accomplishes its
mission nicely. Its predecessor here
was written to provoke miith and
force sober and wholesome thoughts,
too it likewise accomplished its pur
pose, so here is to John Cort and Man
ager Steward for sending two right in
a row. that were up to snuff.
